Sharing my STRIVE Story

In early 2025, as I approached my 40th birthday, I knew that I needed to focus in on the most important areas of my life. Through much soul-searching, reflection, conversation, and prayer, I designated what I describe as my pillars:


  • Faith

  • Family

  • Friends

  • Health


These fours areas are the non-negotiables areas of my life that I know should consistently be investing in, reinforcing, strengthening and growing.

My Personal Pillars

Faith

The world we live in keeps us distracted, busy, living for worldy things (money, fame, possessions, etc.). For me, my faith is based in Christianity. The bible teaches us "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6). By focusing on my faith, I know that I have the firmest of foundations to build upon.

Family

My wife and my children have become the most important people in my life. My wife Kathryn is an amazing woman and has stood by my side through some very challenging times. Her and I were married in early 2019. Since then, we have brought 3 wonderful kids into the world. Looking at my children, I realize they are my legacy. I recognized that I needed to pour into them, teach them, and love them relentlessly. Additionally, my parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins are all people I know I need to be more intentional with.

Friends

The friends I have had throughout my lifetime have helped shape me into the person I am today. We have had great times, and we have had hard times. A social person by nature, I have always enjoyed meeting new people, developing relationships and maintaining them, and staying connected. I view this time period as critical to ensure that we all know that we are not alone.

Health

With my background in Athletic Training, sports medicine, and healthcare, I know the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. We cannot stop the aging process, however, there are many areas of prevention and wellness that are available to mitigate against chronic conditions. By choosing health, I know that my years will be filled with movement, activity, and exercise.




As I thought through these pillars, I also realized how quickly a decade of life can go by. I decided that a system of goals would be great to touch each of these pillars, while also building out meaningful change. If you know me, I tend to take things over-the-top and decided to go all-in with 40 Goals! 40 purpose-driven goals to guide me through this next decade of my life. Each of these goals touching one of my pillars.


Additionally, the STRIVE values serve as the vehicle for this campaign:


  • Succeed through daily action

  • Transform through intentional habits

  • Realize the potential by doing the work

  • Intentionality as the catalyst for change

  • Vision as a roadmap for the future

  • Excellence in the ordinary moments


I will plan to share these goals as I kick them off, rationale and reasoning behind these goals, as well as the progress made with each of them.


I know going into this that I may not hit the mark on all of them, however, I am excited for the journey this campaign creates, the memories to be made, the self-transformation experienced, and the lives this will touch.


It all honestly started out as a selfish idea, with an inward focus, and quickly became an outward expression of intentionality. I hope to inspire others to feel called to an intentional life, realize their purpose and gifts, and help create a better tomorrow.
